tips + tan care

While your 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙯𝙚𝙛𝙭 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 experience is quick and easy, your glow is going to need some love! We want to ensure that by following these preparation instructions, you can help ensure a flawless tan with an even fade. If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to ask your tanning specialist for personalized advice.⁣

before

exfoliate

Shower + exfoliate 24 HRS before your appointment.

Avoid using products that may contain essential oils. This will prepare your skin, leaving it clean with an even surface,

but giving it time to gain some natural body oils. We advise against using a body scrub/loofah combo as most are oil-based and will leave a residue.

shave/wax

Wax/Shave Any Unwanted Body Hair

If you  shave, this step should be done at least 24 hours before your spray tan session. If you wax, this step should be done  48 hours before your appointment as waxy residue will block tanner absorption.

manicure/pedicure

151.png

If getting your tan the same day as your nail appointment, avoid any oils or lotions your nail technician may use. If getting your nails done after your tan, be aware that soaking, acetone, oils, and lotions can cause uneven fading. Manicure and pedicures are HIGHLY recommended 24 hrs before your appointment.

lotions/creams/oils

Do not apply any lotions, oils, deodorant, perfumes, or makeup before your appointment. These products can create a barrier on your skin, preventing the tan from adhering properly. If you have any on, use a Micellar Wipe to remove them. Avoid Neutrogena Makeup Wipes, as they contain oils that can further block the tan.

retinols

146.png

Avoid using retinol on your face or neck at least 7 days prior to your appointment. Retinols are known to promote cell turnover and exfoliation, which can cause the spray tan to fade faster. The accelerated exfoliation process can lead to uneven or patchy tan results

wash your hair

Make sure to wash your hair prior to your appointment (or plan out your hair washing schedule) as to avoid washing your hair during your first rinse. Ingredients in shampoo + conditioner can interfere with development of your sunless tan

150.png

no showering before tan

5.png

Showering before your spray tan appointment will wash away amino acids resulting in a lighter tan. You may also streak from the water marks and your pores will open causing the solution to get trapped in pores resulting in black dots on skin.

sunburns

You cannot get a spray tan if you have an active sunburn (even 1 month old) spraying on sunburned skin will result in a cracked and uneven spray tan. You must wait until the damaged skin is healed before your spray tan appointment.

during

do not touch

149.png

Do Not Touch Your Body. If you touch yourself while your tan is developing, this could result in orange palms.

If you accidentally touch your body, use a Bronzier Exfoliating Mitt to lighten your hands.

sweating

3.png

Try to keep skin dry + cool, no sweating or water contact while developing, this can result in blotching. Avoid skin to skin contact (intimacy or breast feeding etc.) Absolutely no water contact on your skin.

loose clothing

4.png

Dress for the weather and bring a change of dark, loose clothing. No tight-fitting light clothes (no yoga pants/tight jeans) Please note that your clothing may pick up some of the spray bronzer, but it will not stain and easily washes out. NO BRAS! Long sleeves and long pants will keep your fresh tan protected during your development time

avoid water contact

152.png

While your tan is developing please avoid water contact:
If water accidentally gets on your skin—whether from a spill or a pet licking you—gently buff the area using a fluffy makeup brush in circular motions. For extra blending, apply a tiny amount of self-tanner with the brush. The bronzer may not look flawless immediately, but once rinsed, your tan will even out seamlessly.

after

moisturize

Keeping your skin moisturized is key, we recommend a spray tan friendly moisturizers at least 2x a day. Do not apply body sprays/perfumes or colognes directly on your skin as they contain high levels of alcohol + will dry out your skin + will leave your skin patchy (try spraying on clothes or hair instead of skin)

6.png

drink water

8.png

A spray tan can make your skin very thirsty so its super important to drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin from the inside out! This will help keep your smooth skin glowing and your spray tan lasting and fading evenly.

excessive heat

Avoid long, hot showers or baths, excessively sweating, + scrubbing the skin as this can result in a patchy or uneven fade. Swimming pools, jacuzzis, saunas, + steam rooms may all shorten the length of your tan.

If you plan on being in chlorine or natural salt water, a thick layer of SPF lotion should help protect your tan.

9.png

dove soap

Absolutely no DOVE products on your tanned skin, the pH balance in this soap will strip your tan. It may become blotchy and fade much faster. Please avoid.

FAQ

When should I get my spray tan?

Ideally, we recommend you book your spray tan treatment 48 hours prior to any event.

Can I get a spray tan with a sunburn?

The short answer is NO. There are two concerns with spraying over sunburned skin. first, the red burned skin will change the overall look of the spray tan. The second is peeling of the skin or bubbling. The spray tan will be coming off in pieces along with the peeling skin.

How long will my tan last?

A spray tan tends to last anywhere 7 to 10 days, depending on your aftercare and frequency of exfoliating. It's possible for your spray tan to last up to 12 days if you take extra good care of your skin. Spray tans only affect the top layer of skin, and since the body constantly sheds dead skin cells to regenerate new ones it fades accordingly. Drink water and moisturize at least 2x a day to ensure an even fade.

Can I tan while pregnant?

Due to the natural and organic derived ingredients in our premium solutions we can and have sprayed pregnant women. However, we do recommend you consult a doctor.

How long does the appointment take?

Your spray tan application will usually take 15–20 minutes, but we can’t get enough of you. So we allocate a full 30 minutes for each client.

Can I still tan in the sun with a spray tan?

You can, but why age prematurely and damage that beautiful skin of yours?! Seriously, wear SPF babe. Spray tans provide no UV protection.
